Today, I started out at 161.2 lbs. I'm modeling my bathing suit b/c the primary reason I decided to do this was bc we're going to the beach this wknd and I am NOT feeling it. So here's a day 1 shot and I'll do a day 4 or 5 depending on when I want to stop.

I did this last yr and here's a pic of the difference within a week if that.

hoping to get some results like this again. I'm not sure exactly how much I was when I started out but I can't even fit in those jeans anymore cause I'm too big! :( anyhow

for breakfast I made a juice with:
1 red apple
2 green apples
2 celery stalk
a handful of blueberries
1 orange
a sliver of ginger
1 cucumber

It was okay. I think I know what I'm doing wrong. I've not really made juices with cucumbers and celery before. All the juices I've made before were to DIE for. But I think adding these two ingredients since they are made up of a lot of water, dilutes the juice so the flavor isn't as strong. So my suggestion if you're adding these two ingredients, throw in some extra of what you were intending on putting in there or add some herbs or something really potent.

Also, another thing I want to add, as far as those on a budget. Apples and Carrots should be your staple. They are used by most as a staple anyways but these are great tasting and cheap. Carrot juice is pretty tasty....i know it sounds gross but it's great! So good for you, sweet but not with an overpowering carrot taste which is what makes it so great as a base! Heck, you could just drink it by itself!!

Also, another thing! Kale! I have yet to try it..as a matter of fact I'm going to try my first real green juice tonight with some kiyan (omg don't know how to spell it lol) pepper, bell pepper, kale, spinach...i'm excited! And I'll let you know how that goes, but anywho! Last night I found out that a great source of MINERALS is kale and that the deficiency ppl tend to experience on a juice fast is a mineral def so throw some kale in there ppl! I will!! :)

My first recipe...eeeeh

So right now I am reading "Your Comprehensive Green Juicing Guide" to help me as far as some very simple information. It has 10 recipes that is supposedly all you'll ever need plus some great tips PER recipe and what they are beneficial for and so on. It recommends you journaling your recipes and so on so this is my journal/information for anyone who is just looking for stuff that works or didn't work. So I just tried:

2 carrots
1 red apple
1 green apple
1 ball of mint leaves
1 celery stick
3 strawberries
1 cucumber

it was....well at first it wasn't all that. It didn't taste BAD just seemed to not have the flavor that the other juices I made last week did and had all the same ingredients and then some. But the more I drank it the better it got. I'd say give this a go.

Now there are a few things that I can recommend. Great bases for any juice is usually carrots, apples, or both. I always use at least one if not both.

Thanks :)

My first juicy post. Pre-fast day

(Prenote: Everyone what has netflix look up Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead...it's a story ab a guy who did a 60 day juice fast and healed himself of an incurable auto-immune disease...got some great information, and some great motivators)

Well, pretty much I'm going to ATTEMPT to do a short juice fast this week (we're going to the beach next wknd). I've been meaning to all break but I just have been putting it off and then my hubs announced we were beaching it and I just thought..."greeeeaaat". SO, I took my happy butt today to publix cause they have a fantastic produce section and bought me some goodies. My grocery list was:
-mint
-kale
-cucumbers
-apples (red and green)
-celery
-strawberries
-blueberries
-carrots
-watercress
.....I'm going to be taking all kinds of leaps this wk...doing some experimenting and all. BUT I do intend to continue a juicing regimen once I come off the fast.

I am 30 lbs over what I want to weigh. I have a little girl who is almost four. Last year I got all my weight off, was busting my butt getting back into shape and I was killin buddy!....then, I somehow became an asthmatic. One day I just couldn't breath and they had to send me to the ER. That day started a horrible spiraling down. I'd been in the ER every month/cpl of months and each time they pumped me full of steroids and put me on oral steroids when they sent me home. Needless to say I am in bad shape now but I am DETERMINED to get my health back. Not to mention that I'm also in nursing school. It's super hard to do ANYTHING while you're in nursing school, but I am determined as I said to make this happen. I start back the middle of next week.

So I'll be letting you know how I feel everyday, what I tried as far as recipes are concerned....etc. I'm hoping having an "audience" will give me some since of accountability. I'll also post where I'm getting my resources as far as books or movies or websites are concerned. Thanks! :)
